Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy directed Congress MLAs and MLCs to ensure full budget session attendance and actively participate in debates in the Assembly and Legislative Council.
He issued the direction during a Congress Legislature Party meeting held in Hyderabad on Monday. The Chief Minister asked all legislators, including women members, to attend the proceedings without fail.
Revanth Reddy also stressed the need for coordination between government Whips and legislators. According to him, strong coordination will help ensure smooth budget session attendance and effective participation in debates.
The Chief Minister noted that the government is presenting its third budget during the ongoing session. Moreover, he said the Governor’s address had outlined the government’s priorities and future plans.
He described the address as a roadmap for the government’s policy direction. Therefore, he asked legislators to respond during debates strictly according to the party line.
Budget session attendance emphasised during CLP meeting
During the meeting, Revanth Reddy advised legislators to focus discussions on future plans. At the same time, he said members should avoid repeatedly debating the failures of the previous government.
He also instructed government Whips to coordinate with members on the issues raised in the House. As a result, discussions can remain focused and productive during the session.
The Chief Minister said legislators must ensure that Assembly proceedings run efficiently. He warned members not to allow debates to be diverted or House time to be wasted.
Revanth Reddy also encouraged women legislators to actively participate in debates. According to him, actions that damage institutional integrity can weaken the political system.
“Our survival in politics depends entirely on protecting and preserving the integrity of the system,” he said.
The Chief Minister also referred to the functioning of the previous BRS government. He claimed the earlier administration often denied opposition leaders opportunities to speak in the Assembly.
According to him, former CLP leaders Bhatti Vikramarka and Jana Reddy were not allowed to speak on several occasions. He also recalled that he was suspended for an entire session during his tenure as an MLA.
Revanth Reddy said the government will soon constitute all Assembly committees. In addition, he encouraged legislators to visit other states to study best policy practices.
He also asked MLAs and MLCs to address the drinking water crisis expected during the summer. According to him, public representatives must respond to the issue in their constituencies.
Finally, the Chief Minister urged legislators to take the “99-Day Praja Palana – Pragati Pranalika” programme to the grassroots level and engage directly with the public.
