Hyderabad: India beat West Indies by an innings and 140 runs in the first Test of the two-match series, finishing the contest inside three days at Ahmedabad. The visiting side folded for 146 runs in their second innings before tea on Saturday.
India had declared their first innings at 448 for 5, securing a massive 286-run lead after dismissing West Indies for just 162 in their opening innings. The match, which could have lasted up to 450 overs, ended in only 217.2 overs, reflecting India’s dominance.

Ravindra Jadeja was India’s most successful bowler, taking 4 wickets, while Mohammed Siraj claimed 3 and Kuldeep Yadav 2. Washington Sundar contributed one wicket to complete the collapse.
This win also carries historical importance. For the first time in 77 years, India’s home record against West Indies is now level in terms of wins and losses. If India clinch the upcoming Delhi Test, their home record against every Test-playing nation will become positive.
West Indies first toured India in 1948 and had maintained an edge in wins on Indian soil until now.
