Hyderabad: Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy said the Indiramma housing expansion would continue as an ongoing programme, with the next phase scheduled for rollout in April and May.
He informed the State Legislative Council that the government planned to construct houses in every urban ward within three years. Moreover, he said the initiative reflected a long-term commitment rather than a one-time scheme.
He stated that the government had completed the first phase of allotments. Meanwhile, authorities would implement the remaining phases in a structured manner.
Indiramma housing expansion to follow phased rollout plan
Ponguleti said the government was preparing a special plan to complete stalled houses in remote tribal habitations. At the same time, he said beneficiaries would receive flexibility in construction stages.
He stressed that authorities would ensure transparent beneficiary selection without discrimination. In addition, he said priority would go to the poorest sections regardless of caste, religion or political affiliation.
He warned that officials would act against any irregularities. Furthermore, he said the government expected to complete around one lakh houses by March.
By June or July, authorities planned to complete most of the three lakh houses sanctioned in the first phase. Therefore, he said the government aimed to accelerate execution across regions.
He said the government was giving special focus to urban housing. As a result, houses were being built close to beneficiaries’ existing locations to avoid livelihood disruptions.
He noted that this approach addressed earlier issues where beneficiaries could not use houses in distant areas. Meanwhile, he said the government had cleared 99% of pending bills under the 2BHK scheme.
He added that authorities would settle the remaining dues soon. Additionally, the government was running a special 99-day programme to complete pending 2BHK houses.
The minister said the Indiramma housing expansion would continue alongside efforts to hand over houses to eligible beneficiaries.
