Hyderabad: Minister Vivek Venkatswamy said the public welfare budget for 2026-27 will focus on inclusive development and meet people’s aspirations.
Speaking at Gandhi Bhavan on Thursday, the Labour, Employment and Mines Minister said the government is preparing the budget with priority for all sections of society. He added that it aims to ensure balanced growth despite financial constraints.
He criticised the previous BRS government for leaving behind a debt burden of nearly Rs 8 lakh crore due to high-interest borrowings. However, he said the current government is committed to presenting a people-centric financial plan.
The Minister said the public welfare budget will be presented by Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka. He described it as a “revolutionary budget” that will set a new direction for Telangana’s development.
He noted that the government has already paid nearly Rs 3 lakh crore towards loan interest within two years. Even so, it continues to prioritise welfare programmes and social support schemes.
