Failed guarantees protest intensified by BJP, Ramchander Rao targets Congress

Hyderabad: Failed guarantees protest intensified after BJP Telangana president N. Ramchander Rao accused the Congress government of failing to implement poll promises and suppressing dissent.

Rao made the remarks after police detained him at Punjagutta police station during the BJP’s “Assembly Siege” protest. He said the government had not delivered on its guarantees even after more than two years in power.

He alleged that police detained over 800 BJP workers across the state, including women and youth activists. In addition, he said several leaders were placed under house arrest.

Rao described the police action as anti-democratic. Therefore, he accused the government of attempting to silence opposition voices and curb protests.

He said the failed guarantees protest gained momentum due to these actions. According to him, the agitation aimed to highlight gaps in implementation of key schemes.

Failed guarantees protest highlights unmet promises

Rao said several major commitments remained unfulfilled despite repeated assurances. He pointed to financial support for farmers and fee reimbursement schemes as key concerns.

Moreover, he said pension schemes and welfare programmes faced neglect. He claimed that most of the Six Guarantees had not reached beneficiaries effectively.

However, he acknowledged that free bus travel for women was implemented. At the same time, he accused the government of making misleading claims about full delivery.

Rao said the failed guarantees protest would continue until the government addressed these issues. He warned that the BJP would intensify its agitation across the state.

He alleged that the Congress government had deceived all sections of society. Therefore, he said public pressure would be sustained to ensure accountability.

He called for immediate action to implement pending schemes. He added that the protest would remain a key political campaign in Telangana.
