LPG shortage protest staged by BRS near Assembly

Hyderabad: BRS leaders staged an LPG shortage protest near Gun Park close to the Assembly, with working president K T Rama Rao leading legislators against alleged supply failures.

MLAs and MLCs joined the LPG shortage protest holding placards shaped like gas cylinders. They raised slogans against both the Centre and the state government. The demonstration highlighted difficulties faced by households in accessing cooking gas.

K T Rama Rao criticised both governments over the issue. He said people had struggled to secure cylinders since the onset of international conflicts. However, he added that the Centre continued to deny any shortage despite ground-level challenges.

He said the state government distanced itself by citing lack of control over the petroleum sector. As a result, he said citizens bore the impact of poor coordination between authorities. Therefore, he urged both governments to respond clearly and address public concerns.

LPG shortage protest flags supply and policy concerns

K T Rama Rao expressed concern over reports of a possible reduction in cylinder capacity. He said authorities might cut the standard size from 14 kg to 10 kg. Such a move, he warned, would increase the burden on consumers.

He compared the situation to a conflict where weaker sections suffered the most. In addition, he said the lack of coordination between governments had worsened the crisis. He called for immediate clarification on LPG supply.

He also urged the Centre to intervene and ensure adequate availability of cylinders. He said timely action would help resolve issues raised during the LPG shortage protest.
