Govt reviews fuel supply amid West Asia tensions, urges public to avoid panic buying

The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas held a review meeting with state officials to assess preparedness and availability. Authorities confirmed that there were no reports of shortages at LPG distributorships.

To manage demand, the government has implemented measures such as increasing booking intervals and prioritising supply to essential sectors like households, hospitals and educational institutions.

Meanwhile, enforcement agencies have intensified action against black marketing. More than 4,000 raids were conducted, and over 1,300 cylinders were seized in a day.

Officials said refineries are operating at high capacity and the country has sufficient crude reserves. Retail fuel outlets are functioning normally, and prices remain stable despite global fluctuations.

In addition, steps have been taken to boost PNG connections, with over 3.42 lakh connections already activated since March 2026. The government is also pushing for faster expansion of gas infrastructure to reduce dependence on LPG.

The government reiterated that there is no need for panic, emphasising that coordinated efforts are in place to ensure energy security and smooth supply across the country.
