Uttam Kumar Reddy outlines Kaleshwaram barrages repair plan

Hyderabad: Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy said the government would take up Kaleshwaram barrages repair using a scientific approach after completing ongoing studies.

He stated that the Medigadda, Annaram, and Sundilla barrages suffered damage due to lapses during the previous regime. He added that authorities were conducting detailed investigations. At the same time, the government worked with the National Dam Safety Authority and CWPRS experts.

He also said specialists from IIT Mumbai were assisting in advanced testing. According to him, officials would complete all investigation tests by the end of April. He added that teams would begin permanent works under the Kaleshwaram barrages repair plan after the monsoon.

He further said Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy would soon visit the sites to review progress.

Coordination drives Kaleshwaram barrages repair plan

Reddy met Anil Kumar Jain, Chairman of the National Dam Safety Authority, in New Delhi on Friday. During the meeting, he discussed the repair and rehabilitation plan in detail. He also briefed the chairman on safety steps taken to avoid past lapses.

Moreover, he said the government ensured strict monitoring at every stage. In response, Anil Kumar Jain expressed satisfaction with the ongoing studies and testing process. He added that he would visit the barrage sites soon to review the work.
