New Delhi: Centre on Thursday assured uninterrupted fuel supply across the country amid the evolving West Asia crisis. Officials said more than 97 lakh LPG cylinders were delivered during the last two days against bookings of around 87.66 lakh cylinders.
At an inter-ministerial media briefing in New Delhi, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas said online LPG bookings rose to nearly 99% across the industry. Officials also stated that Delivery Authentication Code-based deliveries increased to about 95% to prevent diversion of cylinders.
The government advised citizens not to panic purchase petrol, diesel or LPG. It also urged people to rely only on official information and use digital booking platforms for LPG services.
Officials said all retail fuel outlets were functioning normally across the country. They added that petrol and diesel stocks remained adequate despite global tensions.
The ministry stated that the government ensured 100% supply to domestic LPG, domestic PNG and CNG transport sectors. It also increased commercial LPG allocation to around 70% of pre-crisis levels.
Fuel supply measures boost PNG adoption
Officials said more than 50,400 PNG consumers surrendered LPG connections through the MYPNGD.in portal till May 7, 2026.
The ministry stated that authorities gasified nearly 6.50 lakh PNG connections since March 2026. Infrastructure for another 2.66 lakh connections has also been created.
Officials said PSU oil companies organised more than 10,700 awareness camps for 5 Kg FTL cylinders since April 3. During this period, they sold more than 1.89 lakh small cylinders.
The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways said more than 3,019 Indian seafarers returned safely from Gulf countries so far. Officials repatriated 20 seafarers during the last 48 hours.
The Ministry of External Affairs said outreach efforts with Gulf countries were continuing under the direction of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Officials also confirmed that Indian missions continued to assist citizens across West Asia through round-the-clock helplines and travel advisories.
