Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy announced on Friday that the government will establish minority degree colleges in unified district headquarters across Telangana. The move aims to expand access to higher education and improve employment outcomes for minority students.
He made the announcement during a review meeting of the Minority Welfare Department at the Secretariat. He directed officials to design the proposed minority degree colleges with a strong focus on skill development and Artificial Intelligence training. According to him, education must improve livelihood opportunities and job readiness.
The Chief Minister said minority degree colleges should move beyond conventional courses. He instructed officials to integrate AI-based learning into the curriculum. He also asked the department to prepare a dedicated implementation programme.
Officials were directed to introduce incentive schemes for meritorious minority students. These incentives will match the benefits already extended to BC, SC, and ST students. Revanth Reddy stressed that equal support would strengthen educational equity.
He also instructed the department to identify minority candidates selected in Group-1, Group-2, and Group-3 services. Interested candidates should serve in the Minority Welfare Department, he said. This step will help them understand administration and welfare delivery.

Revanth Reddy suggested inviting successful civil services candidates and sportspersons to student events. He said their participation would motivate youth to pursue education and sports seriously. The government also plans to enhance digital learning tools in minority institutions.
The Chief Minister directed officials to release honorariums to Imams and Mouzams without delay. He assured land allocation for graveyards wherever feasible. These measures aim to address community welfare needs.
He further said the government is preparing a plan to retrofit diesel and petrol autos with electric engines. The initiative intends to reduce fuel expenses for drivers. It will also support cleaner transport in urban areas.
Under the Musi Riverfront development project, the government will construct a mosque, church, and gurudwara along with a temple. Revanth Reddy said the structures will reflect Telangana’s cultural diversity. He described the vision as an expression of “Ganga-Jamuna Tehzeeb.”
Minority Welfare Minister Mohammed Azharuddin, Chief Secretary Rama Krishna Rao, and several corporation chairpersons attended the meeting. Senior officials and representatives from minority boards also participated in the review.
