Dr Sravan Dasoju raises questions over Gujarat model remarks by Revanth Reddy

Hyderabad: MLC Dr. Sravan Dasoju intensified the Gujarat model debate by questioning Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s recent remarks supporting the model. He asked whether Telangana voters elected a Congress government that now aligns with policies often associated with the BJP-led Centre. Moreover, he demanded clarity on the State’s development direction.

Dr. Dasoju said the Congress leadership, including Rahul Gandhi, has criticised the Gujarat Model for years. Therefore, he questioned how a Congress Chief Minister could cite it as a benchmark. He described the issue as a matter of ideological consistency within the party.

He further asked whether the State government was shifting priorities in favour of large industrial frameworks. In addition, he referred to the Chief Minister’s comments describing the model as a development vision. According to him, this raises concerns about policy alignment.

Gujarat model debate triggers demand for white paper

Dr. Dasoju demanded a white paper on financial benefits from central-state coordination. He asked how much revenue or investment Telangana received through this approach. Furthermore, he sought transparency on outcomes linked to the so-called “Bade Bhai” relationship.

He questioned whether the State was witnessing real economic growth. Alternatively, he asked whether development narratives were being rebranded without measurable results. Consequently, he urged the government to present clear data to the public.

Dr. Dasoju also sought clarification from the Indian National Congress leadership. He asked whether the party authorised any deviation from its declared development framework. Moreover, he said voters deserve clarity on governance priorities.

He concluded that Telangana citizens expect a distinct regional identity in development planning. Therefore, he called for transparency regarding policy direction and fiscal gains. The MLC stated that public accountability must guide future decisions.
