Hyderabad: BRS leader Shaik Abdullah Sohail on Saturday accused the Congress government of using police and administrative pressure to target BRS workers and intimidate voters ahead of the Jubilee Hills bypoll on November 11. He appealed to voters to reject fear and back BRS nominee Maganti Sunitha, wife of the late MLA Maganti Gopinath.
Sohail said Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s government had “failed both morally and democratically.” “Instead of focusing on people’s issues, the Chief Minister is leading a campaign of coercion. Our supporters are being detained, homes raided, and volunteers harassed just for standing with BRS,” he alleged.
BRS accuses Congress of misuse of official machinery
He claimed the Congress was distributing cash to influence voters. “Bundles of money are being handed out in Jubilee Hills. This is a shameless misuse of power. Fake videos and misinformation are being spread to damage BRS’s image. This is an attempt to silence democracy,” he said.
Sohail added that the BRS campaign under K. T. Rama Rao was receiving “an overwhelming public response.” “We have met every voter several times. Our approach is about connection, not cash,” he said.
Calling Gopinath “a people’s leader,” he said, “His wife Sunitha carries forward that legacy, and people are ready to bless her with victory.”
He urged voters to “defeat intimidation with their votes.” “Every vote for Sunitha is for democracy and Telangana’s self-respect,” Sohail said.
