Hyderabad: Labour, Employment, Mines and Geology Minister Dr. G. Vivek Venkatswamy said the government would focus on Singareni new mines to restore the organisation’s past strength. He stated that new projects would generate employment and improve coal output. He made these remarks in Mancherial district on May 14. He also said the government aimed to expand opportunities for workers.
The minister descended into the underground section of the KK-5 mine in the Mandamarri Singareni Area. He inspected working conditions and spoke directly with workers. He listened to their concerns and noted their requests. Workers raised issues related to Income Tax on PRC arrears. They also sought support for housing needs.
Speaking to workers, he said the previous government had neglected Singareni operations. He added that no new mine had started during that period. In contrast, he said the current government would prioritise Singareni new mines and protect worker interests. He urged employees to maintain safety standards while improving coal quality.
Singareni new mines and employment plans in Telangana
The minister said fresh mining projects would create jobs across the region. He stated that nearly 5,000 people would receive employment through the RKP Opencast Phase-2 project. He added that the project would begin after forest clearances. Furthermore, he confirmed that the government would address minimum wage issues for contract workers.
He informed workers that the Income Tax issue on PRC arrears had been placed before Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. He also said efforts were underway in Parliament to secure a ₹10,000 pension for retired workers. In addition, he recalled former Union Minister Kaka Venkataswamy’s role in securing funds and protecting jobs in the organisation.
Later, the minister attended a felicitation programme for Shram Shakti Award recipient Yedukola Pawan Kumar at the KK-5 mine. He honoured awardees with shawls and participated in a safety pledge with workers and officials. He called for collective responsibility in strengthening the organisation and advancing development goals linked to Singareni new mines.
