Hyderabad: Dr. Dasoju Sravan Kumar alleged fiscal irregularities in Telangana’s 2025-26 financial performance in a detailed letter addressed to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. He claimed that the state’s revenue projections and borrowing levels reflected serious deviations from approved targets.
In the letter, he stated that against a budget estimate of ₹2,29,720.63 crore, the state realised ₹1,81,810.53 crore, describing it as a 20.86% shortfall. He also cited a sharp gap in land revenue collection and pointed to lower-than-expected performance in stamps and registration.
He further argued that non-tax revenue collections did not meet projections. According to the letter, the government targeted ₹31,618.77 crore but realised only 60.05% of the amount. He said these figures indicated administrative inefficiency and weak fiscal control.
Fiscal irregularities alleged in borrowing and deficit figures
Dr. Dasoju Sravan Kumar also questioned borrowing levels mentioned in the letter. He stated that while the Legislature approved net borrowing of ₹54,009.74 crore, the state reportedly borrowed ₹77,762.35 crore. He described this as exceeding the sanctioned limit.
The letter further claimed that the state projected a revenue surplus of ₹2,738.35 crore but ended the year with a revenue deficit of ₹9,235.06 crore. It also highlighted an increase in the primary deficit compared to earlier estimates.
He demanded transparency in financial reporting and sought clarification on revenue performance, deficit management, and borrowing practices. The letter concluded by urging the government to provide a clear explanation to the public regarding the state’s fiscal position.
