Minority Affairs Ministry pushes AI governance for inclusive development

New Delhi: Ministry of Minority Affairs held a national conclave on minority welfare with a focus on AI governance and inclusive development under the Viksit Bharat vision. The event brought together senior officials and representatives from States and Union Territories. Officials discussed technology-enabled public service delivery and cooperative governance measures. The programme followed the theme “Bhagidari Se Bhagyoday.”

The ministry said the conclave aimed to improve welfare implementation through digital systems and participative governance. Officials discussed the use of conversational AI tools to support minority communities more effectively. The ministry also highlighted plans to integrate frontier technologies into governance systems after the recent AI Summit initiatives.

Secretary of the Ministry of Minority Affairs Srivatsa Krishna described the conclave as a platform for dialogue and policy coordination. He said the discussions focused on issue resolution, innovation, and implementation support. Officials also stressed the need for continuous coordination between the Centre and States.

AI governance and digital welfare delivery initiatives

The ministry said AI governance tools would strengthen monitoring systems and improve grievance redressal mechanisms. Officials explained that technology would support data-based decision-making and faster implementation reviews. States and Union Territories also raised operational issues linked to welfare schemes during consultations. Senior officials responded with clarifications and implementation guidance.

Representatives from the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship held a separate session on skill development and institutional convergence. Discussions focused on improving employment opportunities for minority youth. In addition, Generation India presented AI-driven solutions for skilling and workforce readiness.

Leading organisations, including EkStep Foundation, Gnani, and Sarvam, demonstrated digital governance solutions during technical sessions. Officials said these systems could improve beneficiary targeting, planning, monitoring, and grievance management. The ministry also said it planned to use AI tools during the Haj cycle 2027 to improve pilgrimage management and safety.

The conclave ended with a commitment to expand digital governance and technology-driven welfare systems. Officials said the recommendations would support a long-term roadmap for inclusive development and accountable public administration under the Viksit Bharat vision.
