Congress to closely monitor SIR voter revision in Telangana

Hyderabad: Minister for Roads and Buildings Komatireddy Venkat Reddy on Saturday said the Congress party would closely monitor the SIR voter revision process in Telangana and protect eligible voters from wrongful deletion.

The Minister participated in a Zoom review meeting led by AICC Telangana in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan, TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud, and AICC Secretary Sachin Sawant. Senior Congress leaders and party representatives from the united Nalgonda district also attended the meeting.

Komatireddy Venkat Reddy stressed the need for booth-level monitoring during the electoral roll revision exercise. He said Congress leaders and cadre in Nalgonda and Bhongir Parliamentary constituencies were fully prepared for the process.

The Minister instructed booth-level committees to ensure that genuine voters did not lose their names during the revision exercise. He also raised concerns over arbitrary deletions and called for strict field verification before removing any voter.

According to him, Booth Level Officers should conduct door-to-door verification instead of carrying out mechanical deletions from offices. He further demanded that officials issue notices to voters marked for deletion and provide sufficient time for appeals.

SIR voter revision may lead to protests, says minister

Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said the Congress party would approach the Election Commission and district administrations to ensure transparency during the SIR voter revision exercise. He also directed corporators, councillors, and booth-level leaders to coordinate closely with election officials.

The Minister warned that the party would file complaints at every level if authorities deliberately removed genuine voters from electoral rolls. He also called for special complaint committees at Assembly and constituency levels to monitor developments.

According to him, senior Congress leaders K. Jana Reddy and Uttam Kumar Reddy would supervise the voter revision process in the region.

Komatireddy Venkat Reddy also warned that the Congress party would launch protests if authorities committed injustice during the revision process. He said the united Nalgonda district remained a Congress stronghold and highlighted the party’s electoral victories in Bhongir and Nalgonda Lok Sabha constituencies.

During the meeting, the Minister urged the party leadership to reward loyal workers with nominated and corporation posts. Responding to the request, Meenakshi Natarajan said committed party workers deserved recognition and asked the Minister to suggest suitable names.

Komatireddy Venkat Reddy later said he would hold consultations with Uttam Kumar Reddy, Jana Reddy, and Mahesh Kumar Goud before finalising the list of names.
