Hyderabad: Labour and Mines Minister Dr G Vivek Venkatswamy on Tuesday announced several welfare and development initiatives in Patancheru constituency and said the Congress government was fulfilling housing promises for poor families through the Indiramma housing scheme.
Addressing public meetings in Sangareddy district, Vivek Venkatswamy said the government had sanctioned 3,500 Indiramma houses for every Assembly constituency. He clarified that authorities were allotting houses only to eligible beneficiaries.
The Minister also announced that the second phase distribution of Indiramma houses would begin from June 2. In addition, he said the government was working to fulfil the dream of home ownership for poor families across Telangana.
He criticised the previous BRS government and alleged that it had misled people in the name of double-bedroom houses. According to him, the present Congress government was ensuring that deserving beneficiaries received housing support.
Vivek Venkatswamy made the remarks after laying foundation stones for road works and development projects worth nearly ₹8 crore in Bhanur village of Patancheru mandal.
During the programme, he said the government was issuing ration cards to all eligible families. He added that new pensions for deserving beneficiaries would also be sanctioned from June 2 onwards.
Vivek Venkatswamy launches civic and education projects
The Minister assured residents that the government would widen narrow roads in Patancheru after discussions with Roads and Buildings Department officials.
He also recalled the contribution of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi to the Medak region. According to him, several major institutions, including the Visakha factory, were established during her tenure as Medak Lok Sabha Member.
Furthermore, Vivek Venkatswamy remembered veteran leaders Kaka Venkataswamy and T Anjaiah for their work in INTUC. He later unveiled a portrait of former Chief Minister T Anjaiah and paid floral tributes.
The Minister also laid the foundation stone for BT road works from Patancheru to Bhanur village with an allocation of ₹8.30 crore.
Later, Vivek Venkatswamy inaugurated development works worth ₹15 crore each in Isnapur, Indresham, Jinnaram, Gummadidala and Gaddapotharam municipalities under the Urban Development Scheme.
He said the funds would support road construction, drainage works and civic infrastructure development in those municipalities.
The Minister also attended an Indiramma Housing housewarming programme at Solakpalli village in Jinnaram mandal and greeted beneficiaries. In addition, he laid the foundation stone for additional classrooms at the KGBV school in Jinnaram and said the government was giving priority to strengthening education infrastructure.
