TRS chief Kavitha backs centring workers protest in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: The centring workers protest in Hyderabad received support from Telangana Rakshana Sena chief K. Kavitha on Saturday as workers staged a dharna near Indira Park demanding resolution of their issues.

The protest was organised under the banner of the Greater Hyderabad Centring Contractors Association. Kavitha joined the agitation and accused the Congress government led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy of failing to address the problems faced by centring workers across the state.

LB Nagar MLA Sudheer Reddy and Jana Sena leader Prem Kumar also participated in the protest programme and extended support to the workers’ demands.

Kavitha demanded that the State government immediately initiate discussions with leaders of the centring workers within two days. She said the workers had raised genuine concerns and deserved a proper response from the administration.

The TRS chief also warned that she would personally join the dharna if the government failed to respond within the deadline. Moreover, she said Telangana Rakshana Sena would continue supporting workers affected by livelihood and employment-related issues.

During the protest, Kavitha alleged that the government had ignored labour welfare concerns despite repeated appeals from workers’ organisations. She stated that several labour groups continued facing economic difficulties and uncertainty in the construction sector.

She further assured protesters that her party would stand with centring workers in their struggle for better support and welfare measures. In addition, Kavitha promised that Telangana Rakshana Sena would focus on education and healthcare initiatives if the party came to power in the state.

The protest near Indira Park drew participation from workers, contractors and political leaders. Protesters raised slogans demanding immediate intervention by the government and resolution of pending labour-related concerns.

Political attention around the centring workers protest increased after Kavitha extended open support to the agitation and issued a deadline to the State government for talks with worker representatives.
