Hyderabad: Telangana Rakshana Sena president K. Kavitha placed four major demands before the Telangana Cabinet meeting scheduled at the State Secretariat on Saturday evening under Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.
Kavitha urged the Cabinet to pass a resolution opposing the Polavaram-Banakacherla link project. She also asked the State government to support the Godavari-Cauvery river interlinking project proposed from Sammakka Sagar in Telangana.
Further, she demanded that the government send a formal letter to Union Jal Shakti Minister C. R. Patil after adopting the proposed resolution.
Kavitha also called on the government to introduce a fee regulation law for educational institutions. She said the Cabinet should approve the proposal immediately and implement the law from the current academic year.
In addition, she urged the State government to reject the implementation of the new labour codes. She demanded that the Telangana Cabinet meeting adopt a separate resolution on the issue to protect workers’ interests.
Telangana Cabinet meeting likely to discuss policy matters
Kavitha further demanded distribution of 250-square-yard house sites to recognised Telangana movement activists from June 2. She said the government should begin the process without waiting for the K. K. Committee report.
She also asked the State government to implement all promises made earlier to Telangana movement activists after submission of the committee report.
Political observers said the demands gained significance ahead of the Cabinet discussions on administrative and policy matters at the Secretariat.
The Telangana Cabinet meeting is expected to review several governance issues, including welfare schemes, infrastructure projects and pending policy decisions.
Kavitha has recently intensified political activities after launching Telangana Rakshana Sena and has continued raising issues related to public policy, labour rights and Telangana movement activists through protests and public statements.
