Hyderabad: BRS MLC Dasoju Sravan Kumar on Wednesday accused the BJP of sending mixed political signals on Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and alleged that the party was maintaining a tacit understanding with the Congress in Telangana.
Speaking to reporters, he referred to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent remarks in Hyderabad inviting Revanth Reddy to “join hands” with the BJP. He questioned why the party would make such remarks while continuing to target the Chief Minister and the Congress government over alleged corruption.
According to the BRS leader, BJP leaders frequently attack the Congress and accuse it of misusing Telangana for political gains. However, he argued that the party’s public statements and political actions appeared inconsistent.
BJP urged to clarify its position
The BRS leader claimed that the BJP was portraying Revanth Reddy as a leader who could eventually align with the party. He cited examples of politicians from other parties who later joined the BJP and rose to prominence.
Referring to the Dasoju allegations, he urged the BJP leadership to clearly explain its stand. He said the party should specify whether it considers Revanth Reddy a leader tainted by corruption allegations or someone it views as a potential political associate.
The comments intensified the ongoing political rivalry among the BRS, BJP and Congress in Telangana. They also generated fresh discussion ahead of future electoral contests in the state.
Neither the BJP nor the Congress immediately responded to the Dasoju allegations or the claims made by the BRS leader.
