Imran Khan sisters allege harsh police action outside Adiala Jail

Hyderabad: Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan remains inaccessible to his family inside Adiala Jail. For nearly a year, his sisters have attempted to meet him, but officials continue to block every request. Although authorities cite security concerns, his family says the reasons remain unclear.

Court orders on Imran Khan meetings remain unimplemented

Tensions escalated on Tuesday night when his sisters—Aleema Khan, Noreen Niazi and Dr Uzma Khan—joined supporters in a peaceful protest outside the jail. They later alleged that police tried to disperse them and used unnecessary force. Witnesses also reported tense scenes near the entrance.

The family said Punjab Police switched off nearby lights before officers charged at them. Noreen Niazi, aged 71, claimed she was dragged by her hair. Several women reported being pushed and hit, while supporters described the action as unprovoked. PTI leaders amplified these allegations on social media.

Legal orders added another layer to the dispute. In March 2025, the Islamabad High Court permitted family and lawyer meetings, and the court reiterated the directive in October 2025. Despite this, the jail administration has not allowed any meeting, according to his sisters.

Their attempts continued last week. The family accused Rawalpindi Police of mishandling them and dragging them on the road. They also said officers briefly detained them without explanation. Media reports noted that the family arrived for a scheduled weekly meeting, yet authorities still denied entry.

Meanwhile, rumours spread online about Imran Khan’s condition. Some posts falsely suggested he was moved to another site, while others speculated about his health. However, no official statement supported these claims, and authorities have not issued detailed clarification.

The party accused police of removing them forcefully, called the treatment unacceptable, and demanded immediate compliance with court orders.
