New Delhi: The Yoga Sangam Portal has recorded more than 1.7 lakh organiser registrations ahead of the 12th International Day of Yoga on June 21, highlighting growing participation in the nationwide wellness initiative.
The Ministry of Ayush relaunched the Yoga Sangam Portal during the 25-day countdown to International Day of Yoga 2026 in Khajuraho, Madhya Pradesh. Union Minister of State for Ayush Prataprao Jadhav unveiled the platform. Since then, institutions, organisations and community groups have registered events across the country.
The Yoga Sangam Portal serves as the digital backbone of Yoga Sangam, one of the flagship initiatives of IDY 2026. Through the platform, schools, colleges, resident welfare associations, government bodies and private organisations can register and coordinate yoga events.
Moreover, the portal allows organisers to upload photographs and reports after their programmes. As a result, participants can contribute to a coordinated national celebration through a single digital platform.
Yoga Sangam Portal strengthens nationwide coordination
Prataprao Jadhav said Yoga Sangam promotes unity through wellness. He added that simultaneous practice of the Common Yoga Protocol encourages healthier lifestyles and strengthens national integration.
Unlike conventional programmes, Yoga Sangam follows a decentralised model. Therefore, organisations conduct yoga sessions at their own locations while following the Common Yoga Protocol. At the same time, the initiative connects participants through a shared national framework.
The programme builds on the success of IDY 2025. During last year’s edition, more than 13.04 lakh Yoga Sangam events were registered nationwide. Meanwhile, over 10 lakh locations participated in synchronised yoga demonstrations.
Furthermore, participating organisations will receive certificates from the Ministry of Ayush. The Ministry believes the initiative will expand yoga’s reach and encourage community-led participation.
Ultimately, the Yoga Sangam Portal aims to transform International Day of Yoga into a larger people-led movement. In addition, it seeks to bring the benefits of yoga closer to communities across India.
