Passport verification award presented to Telangana Police

Hyderabad: Telangana Police received the Passport verification award from the Ministry of External Affairs for excellence in passport verification services, recognising its high clearance rate and speedy processing system.

Union External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar presented the award to Telangana Director General of Police C.V. Anand during the Passport Seva Divas celebrations and Passport Officers’ Conference held at Sushma Swaraj Bhavan in New Delhi from June 17 to 19.

Senior officials from the Ministry of External Affairs, Passport Offices and police departments from several states attended the event. The award recognised Telangana Police for its institutional performance in passport verification services.

During 2025-26, the department verified more than 8.67 lakh passport applications. Moreover, it achieved a 99 percent clearance rate while completing verification within an average of five to seven days.

Officials credited the achievement to the AI-powered VeriFast system. The department developed the platform under the leadership of DGP C.V. Anand to streamline passport verification and improve efficiency.

Passport verification award highlights VeriFast success

The latest recognition further strengthened Telangana’s record in passport services. Since 2015, the state has secured seven national recognitions in this category.

According to officials, VeriFast has significantly reduced processing time and improved the overall verification process. As a result, applicants receive quicker service while authorities maintain verification standards.

Speaking after receiving the honour, C.V. Anand said the Passport verification award reflected the dedication and service-oriented approach of Telangana Police.

He said the recognition would motivate the department to continue delivering faster and better services to citizens. Furthermore, he credited police personnel across the state for their contribution to the achievement.

The award comes as Telangana Police continues to adopt technology-driven solutions to improve public services and enhance citizen-centric governance.
