Telangana to become national Education and Sports Hub, says Revanth Reddy

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy said the government would transform Telangana into an Education and Sports Hub and prepare students to lead the country in education, sports and innovation.

Speaking at LB Stadium on Friday, he launched the distribution of Young India student kits to 27.50 lakh students. He also laid foundation stones for sports complexes in several districts. He said the government introduced Young India Integrated Residential Schools and the Young India Sports University to strengthen education and sports development.

Revanth Reddy warned that rapid advances in artificial intelligence were affecting employment opportunities. Therefore, the government launched skill development programmes to create more jobs for youth. It also introduced German and Japanese language training along with English to improve overseas employment prospects.

He said the government upgraded Industrial Training Institutes into Advanced Technology Centres. In addition, it established a Skill University to equip young people with industry-relevant skills.

Education and Sports Hub to drive future growth

The Chief Minister urged students from social welfare institutions to become doctors, IAS officers, IPS officers and political leaders. He asked them to play an active role in rebuilding Telangana and shaping the nation’s future.

Revanth Reddy criticised the previous BRS government for weakening the education sector. He said it failed to increase diet and cosmetic charges for students during its tenure. However, the present government revised those charges soon after assuming office.

He also defended his decision to retain the education portfolio. He said he wanted to personally oversee reforms aimed at improving education standards. Furthermore, he stated that the government revived public schools and introduced pre-primary education. As a result, demand for admissions in government schools increased significantly.

The Chief Minister highlighted that the government allocated 8.5 percent of the State budget to education. He said Telangana earmarked ₹26,600 crore for education in the 2026-27 financial year. According to him, the government views spending on education as an investment in future generations.
