Central Vista Corridor work begins at Central Secretariat Metro station

New Delhi: Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has started work on the Central Vista Corridor at Central Secretariat Metro Station. The project forms part of Phase V(A) and will extend the Magenta Line from Janakpuri West to RK Ashram Marg.

Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs and Power Manohar Lal launched the construction work. Senior officials from the ministry and DMRC also attended the event.

The new station will become a triple interchange hub. It will connect the Magenta Line with the existing Yellow and Violet lines. As a result, commuters will get easier access to government offices and administrative districts in central Delhi.

Officials said the project will strengthen metro connectivity in the heart of the national capital. Moreover, it will improve passenger movement across important government and public service zones.

Central Vista Corridor to improve central Delhi connectivity

The 9.913-km underground corridor will include nine stations. These are Shivaji Stadium, Yuge Yugeen Bharat, Central Secretariat, Kartavya Bhawan, India Gate, War Memorial–High Court, Baroda House, Bharat Mandapam and Indraprastha.

The corridor will connect major government offices, judicial institutions, national memorials and convention facilities. In addition, it will improve network efficiency and reduce travel time for passengers.

Furthermore, the project will help meet growing commuter demand in central Delhi. It will also strengthen public transport links in one of the city’s busiest administrative zones. DMRC said the corridor marks an important step towards better urban mobility and seamless connectivity.
