PAIMANA portal monitors 1,987 infrastructure projects worth ₹42.5 lakh crore

New Delhi: The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) said it monitored infrastructure projects worth ₹42.50 lakh crore through its PAIMANA platform as of May 2026. The portal tracked 1,987 ongoing Central Sector projects across 17 ministries and departments.

The ministry said cumulative expenditure reached ₹21.82 lakh crore, or 51.34% of the revised project cost. It also reported that 817 projects achieved more than 80% physical progress, while 280 projects crossed 80% financial completion.

Transport and Logistics remained the largest sector under monitoring. It accounted for 1,476 projects with a revised cost of ₹23.50 lakh crore. Meanwhile, the Energy sector recorded 214 projects worth ₹11.25 lakh crore. Communication, Water and Sanitation, Social and Commercial Infrastructure, and other sectors also registered significant investments.

Infrastructure projects show steady implementation

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways continued to implement the highest number of projects with 1,149 works worth ₹10.95 lakh crore. The Ministry of Railways followed with 261 projects valued at ₹8.79 lakh crore. Ministries of Power, Petroleum and Natural Gas, Coal, Housing and Urban Affairs, and Water Resources also managed major infrastructure programmes.

During May 2026, authorities commissioned 16 projects across several sectors. Key completions included the ₹21,780.94 crore Ghatampur Thermal Power Plant, the ₹12,924.55 crore Ahmedabad Metro Rail Phase-I project and the ₹8,255 crore Mumbai-Nagpur-Jharsuguda Pipeline project.

In addition, MoSPI brought 35 new projects under the monitoring system. These included the ₹29,344.85 crore Telangana Super Thermal Power Project Stage-II, the ₹9,889.24 crore Nidadavolu-Duvvada third and fourth railway line project, and the ₹3,147 crore four-laning of the Pathalgaon-Kunkuri section of National Highway-43.

The ministry said the monitoring platform follows the “one data, one entry” principle and integrates data from multiple ministries. As a result, it supports timely reviews, standardised reporting and better decision-making for large public investments. The next monthly flash report for June 2026 will be released on July 27.
