Hyderabad: Police busted a Hyderabad steroid racket by arresting six persons and seizing banned steroid injections, supplements and other materials worth around Rs 6.5 lakh during a joint operation by the Commissioner’s Task Force, Secunderabad Zone, and Musheerabad police.
Officials seized 440 vials of Termin (Neon), 336 vials of Mephentermine Sulphate Injection, testosterone injections, somatropin, drostanolone injections, amino acid supplements, 336 tablets, two mobile phones and other incriminating material.
Police identified Batte Shiva, an online gym trainer, and Mohammed Furqanuddin Faisal as the main accused. Investigators said they procured steroid injections from online suppliers based in Uttar Pradesh and Punjab. They allegedly distributed the banned substances through local sub-sellers to earn illegal profits.
According to the police, gym-goers commonly misused the injections for rapid muscle growth. The accused allegedly sold the drugs without valid medical prescriptions.
Police expand probe into Hyderabad steroid racket
Meanwhile, police identified two online suppliers as absconding and launched efforts to trace them. They also registered separate cases at Musheerabad Police Station under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Furthermore, investigators continued the probe to identify other members of the network. They are also examining the full extent of the illegal steroid distribution chain operating in Hyderabad.
