Hyderabad: Telangana secured approvals worth ₹757.19 crore under the Telangana PM-SETU scheme to modernise three Industrial Training Institute (ITI) clusters. The approvals came as the Centre expanded the Pradhan Mantri Skilling and Employability Transformation through Upgraded ITIs (PM-SETU) programme across the country.
The fourth National Steering Committee approved the projects. Debashree Mukherjee, Secretary, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, chaired the meeting. The committee also cleared the nationwide rollout of PM-SETU across 200 identified ITI clusters.
The programme aims to modernise ITIs through industry partnerships, upgraded infrastructure and future-ready training. As a result, students will receive better technical education and improved employment opportunities.
In Telangana, three ITI clusters received approval. Each cluster has an industry partner to lead infrastructure development and skill training. Together, the projects account for investments of ₹757.19 crore.
Telangana PM-SETU strengthens skill development
The first cluster has Government ITI Old City as the hub. It is linked with Government ITIs at Warangal, Nalgonda Boys, Vikarabad Girls and Panjaguda. Apollo MedSkills Limited will serve as the anchor industry partner. It will invest ₹241.01 crore.
The second cluster is headed by Government ITI Patancheru. It includes Government ITIs at Shadnagar, Marpally, Nalgonda (New) and Bhongir. Sri Siddharth Infratech & Services (India) Pvt. Ltd. will anchor the cluster. The company will invest ₹275.24 crore.
The third cluster has Government ITI Sangareddy as the hub. It is connected to Government ITIs at Hathnoora, Medak, Dubbaka and Yellareddy. Neuland Foundation will lead this cluster. It has committed an investment of ₹240.94 crore.
Meanwhile, the committee also approved ITI clusters in Odisha and Gujarat. Jindal Naveen Avsar Limited will anchor the Odisha cluster. Likewise, ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India will lead the Gujarat cluster.
Furthermore, the committee approved measures to simplify implementation. It also encouraged greater industry participation. In addition, it sought stronger involvement from public sector undertakings and other institutions.
PM-SETU is one of the Centre’s flagship skill development programmes. It focuses on modernising ITIs through industry partnerships, better infrastructure and updated curricula. Consequently, the scheme aims to improve employability and create a skilled workforce for future industries.
