New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday congratulated weightlifter Harjinder Kaur for winning the Harjinder Kaur silver medal in the Women’s 69 kg event at the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow. He also applauded her personal-best performance and wished her success in the years ahead.
In a message posted on X, the Prime Minister said Harjinder’s achievement reflected the impressive form shown by Indian weightlifters at the Games. He noted that her latest effort was the best performance of her career and described it as a proud moment for the country.
Modi said India’s weightlifting contingent had delivered encouraging results during the competition. He added that Harjinder’s podium finish highlighted the growing strength of Indian athletes on the international stage.
