Ponguleti warns revenue officials over delays in farmer grievance redressal

Hyderabad: Telangana Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy on Tuesday warned revenue officials of strict disciplinary action for failing to resolve public complaints promptly. He stressed that officials must prioritise farmer grievances and improve the department’s performance.

Speaking at a review meeting of the Revenue, Registration and Housing departments at the Sangareddy Collectorate, the minister expressed dissatisfaction with the pace of administration in the erstwhile Medak district. He said revenue officials had failed to meet expected standards despite repeated instructions.

Ponguleti also reviewed the state government’s comprehensive land resurvey project. He said the initiative aims to resolve longstanding land disputes and ensure transparency in land records. The government has set an 18-month deadline to complete the resurvey of all agricultural lands and abadi properties.

Land resurvey underway in 70 villages per district

During the meeting, Ponguleti questioned several tahsildars and field surveyors about daily progress, survey methods, village coverage and project deadlines. Under the first phase, officials are conducting the resurvey in 70 selected villages in each district.

The minister directed officials at every level, from tahsildars to district collectors, to conduct regular field inspections. He asked them to monitor survey work directly and address farmers’ concerns without delay. He also stressed the need for closer supervision to improve administrative performance.

Ministers Damodar Rajanarasimha and Vivek Venkataswamy attended the meeting, along with MPs Raghunandan Rao and Suresh Shetkar. MLC Anji Reddy and MLAs Chinta Prabhakar, Sunitha Lakshma Reddy, Manik Rao, Kotha Prabhakar Reddy and Sanjeeva Reddy were also present.

The meeting also included Sangareddy Collector Prateek Jain, Medak Collector Haimavathi and Siddipet Collector Pratima Singh. Additional collectors, sub-collectors, revenue divisional officers, tahsildars and officials from various departments also participated.
