Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh has mobilised around 6,000 personnel to tackle potential power disruptions and electrical hazards as Cyclone Arnab approaches. Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar directed officials on Tuesday to remain on high alert and prioritise public safety.
The minister reviewed preparedness through a video conference. Emergency teams are ready to repair damaged power lines, fallen poles and faults at substations. Meanwhile, officials have stocked essential repair materials at divisional offices and mandal headquarters to speed up restoration work.
Cyclone Arnab preparedness includes upgraded helpline
The electricity department has strengthened its 1912 helpline to handle up to 30,000 calls simultaneously. A dedicated communication network will help coordinate emergency responses with district administrations and other departments.
Ravi Kumar urged residents to exercise caution around electrical hazards during the cyclone. He warned people not to approach or touch snapped wires or fallen electrical equipment. Residents should report such dangers immediately through the 1912 helpline.
