Hyderabad: Hyderabad District Congress Committee (DCC) President Syed Khalid Saifullah urged the Telangana Housing Board to extend the Indiramma Indlu application deadline by 10 to 15 days.
He also sought a separate “Divorced” category in the application form. He said the change would help eligible divorced women apply for homes under the Indiramma Indlu-LIG Housing Scheme.
Saifullah submitted a representation to Telangana Housing Board Vice-Chairman and Housing Commissioner V. P. Gautham on Thursday. He said the current deadline of August 15, 2026, should be extended.
According to Saifullah, only around 46,000 applications had been received for 7,680 flats. The scheme covers 16 Assembly constituencies.
He said the relatively low number of applications suggested that many eligible families might not yet know about the scheme. Meanwhile, several people had recently approached Congress offices for information and assistance.
Saifullah said some eligible families had learned about the application process only in recent days. Therefore, he requested the Housing Board to provide wider publicity and extend the deadline.
Indiramma Indlu form excludes divorced applicants
Saifullah also raised a specific issue affecting divorced women. He said the current application form does not provide a “Divorced” option under marital status.
Instead, the form requires a woman applicant to provide her husband’s Aadhaar details. As a result, divorced women who cannot provide their former husband’s Aadhaar details may be unable to complete their applications.
Therefore, Saifullah asked the Housing Board to add a “Divorced” option to the application form. He also sought an exemption from the requirement to provide former husbands’ Aadhaar details.
He said these changes would remove an application barrier for eligible women. Moreover, he urged the Housing Board to extend the Indiramma Indlu deadline and increase publicity for the scheme.
Saifullah said the measures would help deserving LIG families avoid exclusion because of limited awareness or technical difficulties in the application process.
