Hyderabad: Telangana government has accelerated its airport development push, with Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy directing officials to fast-track land acquisition, approvals, and infrastructure planning.
During a review meeting at the Secretariat, he said the initiative aligns with the vision of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for rapid and balanced development. He also noted that the government has prepared a clear action plan for new airports in Warangal, Adilabad, and Bhadradri Kothagudem.
Officials from the Airports Authority’s southern region and the state aviation department attended the meeting. Moreover, the minister asked them to coordinate closely with the Centre to ensure timely execution of the projects.
Airport development push gains momentum with land and planning
The minister said the government has already acquired about 953 acres for the Warangal airport project and handed it over to the Centre. As a result, authorities are expected to lay the foundation stone soon, marking a key milestone.
Meanwhile, in Adilabad, the airport will be developed jointly by the Defence Department, civil aviation authorities, and the state government. He instructed officials to prepare a master plan quickly and begin further land acquisition. Once completed, the project is expected to improve connectivity in north Telangana.
Airport development push focuses on feasibility and expansion
For Bhadradri Kothagudem, officials earlier found the proposed site unsuitable. Therefore, the minister directed them to conduct a detailed feasibility study and submit alternative proposals at the earliest.
In addition, he emphasised that these projects form a core part of the state’s infrastructure strategy. Improved air connectivity is likely to boost investment, tourism, and regional growth.
Overall, the airport development push reflects the government’s focus on strengthening transport infrastructure. Consequently, Telangana aims to enhance connectivity and support long-term economic expansion.
