Hyderabad: Veteran actor Anant Nag will receive the Phalke Award 2024 for his contribution to Indian cinema over more than 5 decades.
The Government of India announced the award on 16 September 2026. The decision followed a recommendation from the Dadasaheb Phalke Award Selection Committee.
The award recognises Anant Nag’s contribution to the growth and development of Indian cinema. It also honours his long cinematic journey and its influence on generations of artists.
The government said his work had enriched India’s cultural landscape. The recognition covers a career spanning more than 5 decades in the film industry.
Phalke Award 2024 to be presented at National Film Awards
The Phalke Award 2024 will be presented to Anant Nag at the 72nd National Film Awards ceremony. The event will take place on 22 September 2026.
The ceremony is scheduled to be held at Kevadia in Gujarat. Anant Nag will receive the prestigious honour during the national awards event.
The Government of India said the award acknowledged his outstanding and valuable contribution to Indian cinema. It also highlighted the lasting impact of his cinematic journey.
