Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Wednesday announced a high-level Land issues panel to address and resolve property-related disputes across Telangana. He made the announcement during a detailed statement in the Telangana Legislative Assembly.
Reddy discussed land disputes involving properties placed under Section 22-A. He also highlighted problems linked to the Dharani portal and outlined measures to address them.
The Chief Minister also announced relief for several Indiramma housing beneficiaries. People who received government-built Indiramma houses will be allowed to sell those properties after completing a five-year lock-in period.
The government will complete the registration process immediately after beneficiaries pay the prescribed registration fee and applicable Non-Agricultural Land Assessment charges, Reddy said.
The announcements covered land-related concerns faced by housing beneficiaries, people affected by Dharani-related problems and residents of urban areas. The proposed committee will examine various land issues and work towards resolving them.
Reddy also explained how properties had entered the prohibited list under Section 22-A. He said the government included the lands in 2025 using lists received from district collectors.
According to the Chief Minister, the government obtained those lists after following directions issued by the High Court. He said the process aimed to address properties affected by land restrictions.
Land issues panel to examine Section 22-A concerns
However, complications arose when individual survey numbers contained both government and privately owned land. As a result, registrars and revenue officials faced difficulties while dealing with such properties.
Reddy said the government had since changed the extent of land included in the prohibited properties list. The changes followed a practical review of problems that emerged after the list was introduced.
He said more than seven lakh acres had initially been placed on the prohibited list when the Dharani portal was launched. Subsequently, the government reduced the extent covered by the list.
By 2026, the prohibited land had fallen to less than three lakh acres, according to the Chief Minister. The reduction followed changes made to the list and its coverage.
The Chief Minister said the Land issues panel would form part of broader efforts to address land-related grievances. The announcement also covered prohibited properties, Dharani-related difficulties and concerns raised by housing beneficiaries.
The measures were announced before the Assembly as the government outlined steps to resolve land disputes and related administrative problems.
