BRS protest in Adilabad over Surya remarks

Hyderabad: BRS leaders staged a BRS protest Adilabad against BJP MP Tejasvi Surya over his remarks on Telangana’s formation.

The party organised the protest to condemn his comparison of Telangana’s formation with the India-Pakistan partition. Leaders said the comments hurt public sentiment and disrespected the state’s history. They also criticised the BJP for its stance on Telangana issues.

BRS district president and former minister Jogu Ramanna led a rally from the party office to Collector Chowrasta. During the march, protesters raised slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Tejasvi Surya.

Participants carried placards and voiced strong opposition to the remarks. The BRS protest Adilabad drew party workers and local leaders, who joined the demonstration in large numbers. They demanded that Surya withdraw his comments and issue an apology.

BRS protest Adilabad turns tense amid police action

During the protest, BRS leaders tried to burn an effigy of Tejasvi Surya. However, police intervened and stopped the attempt. This led to a brief confrontation at the protest site.

As tensions rose, a scuffle broke out between police personnel and BRS leaders. Both sides pushed each other during the incident. Police then stepped in to disperse the crowd and prevent escalation.

Meanwhile, authorities increased security in the area to maintain order. Officers monitored the situation closely and ensured that the protest remained under control. Despite the disruption, the demonstration continued under tight security arrangements.

The protest forms part of a wider political reaction across Telangana. Several leaders have criticised the remarks in recent days. The issue has triggered debates over historical comparisons and political statements.
