CM Revanth Reddy issues zonal commissioners directions on Hyderabad governance

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy issued zonal commissioners directions, instructing them to take full ownership of civic issues and strengthen governance across Hyderabad’s core urban region.

As part of this push, he said the government had decided to develop the economy area within the Outer Ring Road in a planned manner. He noted that the Telangana Rising 2047 vision document now guided structured development across the state.

To improve administration, the Chief Minister said authorities had reorganised the CURE city limits into 12 zones, 60 circles and 300 wards. Through this restructuring, he said the government aimed to put governance on track and fix accountability at every level.

However, Revanth Reddy said garbage management remained Hyderabad’s most complex challenge. Therefore, the government decided to carry out a complete cleansing of the core urban region. He clearly stated that zonal commissioners would bear responsibility for resolving zone-wise problems.

Accordingly, he directed zonal commissioners to remain in the field every day. At the same time, he announced a complete plastic ban across the city. He also instructed officials to protect lakes and nalas from encroachments without delay.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister said the government would replace diesel buses and autos in the CURE area with electric vehicles. Through this shift, he said the city would reduce pollution significantly.

To strengthen monitoring, he directed officials to install CCTV cameras near lakes, nalas and garbage dumping areas. In addition, he ordered special sanitation drives for three days every month. He also mandated garbage clearance drives once every 10 days.

Further, Revanth Reddy said roads must not show garbage or potholes anywhere. To improve service delivery, he asked officials to use technology for issuing birth and death certificates, trade licences and other documents. He also stressed that online platforms should ensure transparency.

Alongside this, he directed officials to maintain regular communication with colony welfare and apartment associations. He said Hyderabad must now move from good governance to smart governance.

The Chief Minister instructed HYDRA, GHMC and the Water Works department to begin nala desilting works from January. At the same time, he asked officials to ensure adequate street lighting across the city.

For better coordination, he said a Special Chief Secretary would oversee all departments in the CURE area. He also instructed zonal commissioners to prevent mosquito breeding and stop the spread of infectious diseases.

Finally, Revanth Reddy directed officials to respond swiftly to complaints received through the toll-free number. He asked them to prepare a five-year action plan and said the city’s future would improve only if all departments worked together.
