Odisha: DRDO successfully conducted the LRLACM test from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the Odisha coast on June 15, 2026. The flight achieved all objectives based on data recorded by tracking instruments deployed by the Integrated Test Range, Chandipur.
The Long Range Land Attack Cruise Missile is an indigenous weapon system. Various DRDO laboratories and Indian industry partners developed its subsystems. The Aeronautical Development Establishment in Bengaluru served as the nodal laboratory for the programme.
Senior DRDO officials and representatives of the Indian Navy and Indian Air Force witnessed the launch. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated the DRDO team and industry partners for the successful flight-test.
Indigenous progress through LRLACM test
Defence Secretary and Secretary, Department of Defence Research and Development, Rajesh Kumar Singh monitored all activities during the launch. He congratulated scientists, engineers and all personnel involved in the achievement.
Furthermore, the successful launch highlighted India’s advances in indigenous defence technology. It also demonstrated cooperation between DRDO laboratories and domestic industry partners.
The missile programme strengthened India’s efforts to enhance strategic defence capabilities through research and innovation.
