New Delhi: The Indian Air Force on Friday conducted the Maroon Beret parade at the Garud Regimental Training Centre at Air Force Station Chandinagar to mark the successful completion of training for Garud Special Forces operatives.
Air Vice Marshal Rahul Gupta, Assistant Chief of Air Staff Operations (Space), reviewed the ceremonial parade as the chief guest. The Commandant of the Garud Regimental Training Centre received the officer and briefed him on various aspects of the training programme.
During the event, Rahul Gupta congratulated the Garud commandos on successfully completing the demanding training schedule. He stressed the importance of rigorous preparation and specialised combat skills to meet evolving security challenges and modern operational requirements.
The chief guest presented Maroon Berets, Garud Proficiency Badges, and Special Forces Tabs to the successful trainees. Trophies were also awarded to outstanding performers during the ceremony.
Maroon Beret parade showcases combat skills
The passing out ceremony included demonstrations of combat firing, hostage rescue operations, firing drills, assault explosive handling, obstacle crossing, wall climbing, slithering, rappelling, and military martial arts.
The Indian Air Force described the Maroon Beret parade as a major milestone for the trainees as it marked their transformation into young Special Forces operators joining the elite Garud force.
Officials stated that the newly inducted Garud commandos would strengthen the operational capabilities of the Indian Air Force for specialised missions. The statement also highlighted the role played by the Air Force Special Forces during Operation Sindoor.
The Garud force functions as the Special Forces unit of the Indian Air Force and is trained for counter-terror operations, combat search and rescue, special reconnaissance, and high-risk strategic missions.
