New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday virtually addressed the 19th Rozgar Mela and distributed more than 51,000 appointment letters to newly recruited youth across the country through video conferencing.
The Rozgar Mela was organised simultaneously at 47 locations nationwide as part of the Centre’s initiative to accelerate employment generation and strengthen citizen-centric governance. Newly recruited candidates joined several Ministries and Departments, including Railways, ISRO, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the Department of Financial Services, and the Department of Higher Education.
More than 50 per cent of the appointments distributed during the Rozgar Mela were linked to the expanding sectors of Indian Railways. Addressing the recruits, the Prime Minister congratulated the selected candidates and their families and described the appointments as an important milestone for thousands of households.
Narendra Modi said government jobs should be viewed as an opportunity to simplify the lives of citizens and contribute to national development. He urged the recruits to follow the principle of “Nagrik Devo Bhava” and ensure that citizen welfare remained central to governance and public service delivery.
Rozgar Mela highlights employment and skill development
The Prime Minister highlighted India’s growing global standing and said international leaders and companies were keen to partner in India’s growth journey. Referring to his recent visits to the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, the UAE, and Italy, he stated that investments and technology partnerships in sectors such as semiconductors were creating new employment opportunities for Indian youth.
Narendra Modi said India now has more than 23.30 lakh recognised startups and noted that innovation was expanding rapidly in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities. He also praised the contribution of women entrepreneurs and said investments in electronics manufacturing, clean technology, green hydrogen, and infrastructure development were generating fresh employment avenues.
The Prime Minister encouraged the newly appointed officials to continuously improve their skills and make effective use of platforms such as iGOT Karmayogi to adapt to evolving governance requirements.
Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Raksha Khadse attended the programme in Ahmedabad along with Gujarat ministers, Members of Parliament, Members of the Legislative Assembly, and senior railway officials. Khadse said the Rozgar Mela was an important platform connecting skilled youth with meaningful employment opportunities and strengthening the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
Since its launch in October 2022, the Rozgar Mela initiative has facilitated the distribution of lakhs of appointment letters across the country as part of the government’s employment generation efforts.
