Govt employees protest over unmet poll promises

Hyderabad: Government employees staged a govt employees protest across key offices on Friday, demanding action on pending poll promises.

Staff held lunch-hour demonstrations at the Secretariat, Hyderabad Collectorate, and Bhima Bhavan. They urged the State government to fulfil earlier commitments. The Joint Action Committee of Telangana Employees, Gazetted Officers, Teachers, Workers, and Pensioners organised the protests.

At the Secretariat, participants wore black badges and held placards. They gathered at the Bahubali entrance and staged a sit-in. The govt employees protest highlighted several unresolved issues raised by the association.

Employees demanded implementation of the second Pay Revision Committee recommendations before June 2. They also sought release of ₹13,000 crore in pending pension dues.

Govt employees protest raises pension and PRC demands

The association called for clear guidelines under the Employees Health Scheme. It also demanded implementation of the Old Pension Scheme promised during the 2023 Assembly elections. Moreover, leaders stressed the need for quick policy decisions.

Earlier, the TGEJAC State-level committee met on April 7 and planned phased protests. As part of the first phase, employees held similar demonstrations at mandal and district collector offices.

During these protests, participants wore black badges to highlight their demands. They said further action would depend on the government’s response.
