CM Revanth Reddy seeks green steel plant at Bayyaram

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy sought the establishment of a green steel plant at Bayyaram during a meeting with Union ministers in Delhi.

He met Union Minister for Steel and Heavy Industries H.D. Kumaraswamy and Minister of State Bhupathiraju Srinivasa Varma. During the meeting, he presented key industrial proposals under the Telangana Rising–2047 Vision. He said the green steel plant would reduce steel shortages and promote sustainable growth.

Moreover, he stressed that such a project would support environmentally friendly industrial expansion. He added that Telangana could emerge as a hub for next-generation manufacturing with central support. The green steel plant proposal formed a key part of this broader strategy.

Revanth Reddy also highlighted the need for a steel recycling industry. He said Hyderabad could process scrap from old vehicles due to its existing infrastructure. In addition, he proposed a hydrogen-based green steel cluster in the city.

The Chief Minister outlined several proposals to boost industrial growth. He suggested setting up manufacturing units for the automobile and defence sectors. He also urged the Centre to support an EV battery manufacturing hub.

Further, he proposed a dedicated park for advanced manufacturing. This park would focus on robotics and machine tools. He said these initiatives would strengthen Telangana’s industrial ecosystem.

At the same time, he called for support to promote electric vehicles. He said this would help make Hyderabad a pollution-free city by 2034. He also requested national-level skill development institutions to train the workforce.

Officials, including Principal Secretary Srinivasa Raju and Special Secretary Advait Kumar Singh, attended the meeting. The proposals, including the green steel plant, are expected to guide future industrial planning in the state.
