Harish Rao criticism draws sharp response from Congress leader Fahim

Hyderabad: Congress leader and Telangana Food Corporation Chairman M.A. Fahim launched a sharp attack on senior BRS leader T. Harish Rao and accused the opposition party of ignoring its own record while targeting the Congress government. He said the Fahim challenge was aimed at exposing what he described as the failures and corruption allegations linked to the previous BRS administration.

Fahim said Harish Rao was not in a position to question the Congress government without first answering allegations raised against the BRS leadership. He recalled that the BRS had left the Assembly without allowing a full discussion on its 10-year rule when the Congress sought a debate on governance and public welfare.

The Congress leader also dismissed Harish Rao’s confidence about future electoral prospects in Palamuru. Instead, he urged the BRS leader to examine his party’s performance in Medak and other regions. He claimed that voters had backed Congress in municipal, corporation and local body elections. Moreover, he said the party had received public support in recent by-elections as well.

Fahim challenge focuses on BRS accountability

Fahim accused Harish Rao of making personal remarks against Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy instead of addressing substantive issues. Furthermore, he alleged that the BRS converted welfare initiatives into opportunities for corruption and referred to allegations surrounding Mission Kakatiya and the Kaleshwaram project.

He claimed that people continued to remember what he described as large-scale irregularities during the BRS tenure. Therefore, he said the opposition should first respond to allegations made by BRS MLC K. Kavitha before demanding a public debate with Congress leaders.

Fahim also questioned Harish Rao’s political future and alleged that the BRS was struggling to retain its relevance. In addition, he rejected claims that the Congress government had increased the State’s financial burden. He maintained that the current administration was repaying debts inherited from the previous government while continuing welfare programmes for the people of Telangana.

The Congress leader said the Fahim challenge remained open and urged the BRS leadership to participate in a detailed public discussion on governance, finances and development before criticising the present government.
