New Delhi: The Union Health Ministry launched the JANANI platform to strengthen maternal and child healthcare services during the National Summit on Innovation and Inclusivity – Best Practices Shaping India’s Health Future.
The JANANI platform was developed as an upgraded version of the existing RCH portal. It creates a longitudinal digital health record for women during their reproductive age by tracking healthcare services across different stages of care.
The platform supports monitoring of antenatal care, delivery preparedness, postnatal services, newborn care and family planning. Officials said the system would help ensure timely interventions and continuity of healthcare services.
JANANI also introduced QR-enabled digital Mother and Child Health cards to improve portability and access to records. The platform includes automated alerts for high-risk pregnancies, real-time dashboards and due-list generation for monitoring beneficiaries.
The Health Ministry stated that JANANI supports integration with platforms such as U-WIN and POSHAN to improve coordination and data exchange across government programmes.

JANANI platform records over 1.34 crore registrations
The JANANI platform allows beneficiary registration through ABHA, Aadhaar and mobile numbers. It also provides pan-India search functionality to support migratory populations and prevent duplication of records.
Moreover, beneficiaries can self-register through web and mobile platforms to access healthcare services and records. The platform also sends alerts for antenatal visits and immunisation schedules.
Citizens can access digital MCH cards, nearby healthcare facility details and nutritional guidance through the platform. Officials said these features would support informed healthcare decisions and improve maternal and child health outcomes.
Till date, the JANANI platform has recorded 1.34 crore beneficiary registrations, over 30 lakh registrations of pregnant women and more than 30 lakh MCH cards. The platform has also completed over 1 lakh biometric verifications.
The Health Ministry said the launch reflected the government’s commitment to improving healthcare access through digital systems and real-time monitoring.
