Hyderabad: Heatwave alert was issued for several districts in Telangana after the Meteorological Department forecast dry weather and severe hot wind conditions across parts of the state on Monday.
Officials issued a yellow alert for districts including Rajanna Sircilla, Asifabad, Adilabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad and Jagtial. The department advised residents to remain cautious during peak daytime temperatures and avoid unnecessary outdoor activity.
Weather officials said high temperatures and dry conditions were likely to continue in northern Telangana districts over the next few days. Authorities also warned that hot winds could intensify in some areas during afternoon hours.
Meanwhile, the Amaravati Meteorological Department predicted light rainfall and thunderstorms in parts of Andhra Pradesh. Officials said isolated showers could occur in Manyam, Alluri, Polavaram, Chittoor, Anantapur and Kurnool districts.
The department stated that weather conditions remained unstable in several north coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh. However, intense heat conditions were expected to continue in multiple mandals despite the possibility of scattered rainfall.
Heatwave alert continues in north coastal areas
Officials warned of severe heat conditions in several mandals of Srikakulam district, including Amadalavalasa, Burja, Hiramandalam, Kanchili, Nandigam, Pathapatnam and Sompeta.
Authorities also forecast high temperatures in parts of Vizianagaram district. The affected mandals include Badangi, Bobbili, Bondapalli, Dattirajeru, Gantyada, Merakamudidam, Ramabhadrapuram, Santakaviti, Terlam and Vangara.
In Manyam district, weather officials issued warnings for Balijipeta, Garugubilli, Gumma Lakshmipuram, Jiyyammavalasa, Komarada, Kurupam, Pachipenta, Palakonda, Salur, Seethampeta and Veeraghattam mandals.
Officials advised people to stay hydrated and take precautions against prolonged exposure to the sun. They also urged elderly people, children and outdoor workers to remain alert during extreme heat conditions.
