High Court grants anticipatory bail in Bowenpally clash case

Hyderabad: The Hon’ble High Court granted Bowenpally anticipatory bail to 20 accused persons in the Bowenpally clash case, bringing major relief to them in a matter involving serious criminal charges.

The case originated from an incident reported on April 2, 2026, in the Bowenpally area of Secunderabad. Following the clash, police registered a complaint against 27 persons and filed an FIR invoking charges including attempt to murder, rioting and unlawful assembly.

Out of the 27 accused, 20 approached Advocates Barkat Ali Khan and Mohammed Azhar for legal assistance. Subsequently, the lawyers filed anticipatory bail petitions before the High Court on April 15, 2026. The court heard arguments on April 17 and April 20, during which both sides presented detailed submissions.

After examining the material, the court granted anticipatory bail to all 20 accused. Initially, it imposed a surety condition of ₹30,000, requiring two sureties of ₹15,000 each.

However, the accused belonged to economically weaker sections and faced financial constraints. Therefore, their counsel filed relaxation petitions seeking modification of the surety condition. After reviewing the request, the court reduced the surety amount to ₹5,000 per person.

Bowenpally anticipatory bail order after surety relaxation

Following the modification of conditions, all 20 accused secured Bowenpally anticipatory bail despite facing grave allegations in the FIR. The court’s decision came after considering submissions regarding financial hardship.

Moreover, the legal team argued that excessive surety amounts would create undue burden on families living below the poverty line. After hearing these submissions, the court issued the relaxation order.

The families of the accused expressed gratitude to the advocates for their representation and efforts before the court. They also acknowledged that the matter was handled on a pro bono basis in the interest of justice.

With the court granting relief, the accused will now comply with the conditions set by the judiciary while the investigation in the case continues as per law.
