Hyderabad Congress launches SIR helpline for voter assistance

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad District Congress Committee on Thursday launched a dedicated SIR helpline to help voters during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in the city.

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president B. Mahesh Kumar Goud launched the helpline, 88267 77445, to help eligible voters complete verification and protect their enrolment in the electoral rolls.

The SIR helpline will operate every day from 10 am to 10 pm. Voters can seek guidance on enumeration forms, supporting documents, verification procedures and other SIR-related issues.

Hyderabad DCC president Syed Khalid Saifullah said the initiative targets voters who have not received enumeration forms or who need help completing them.

Voters who have not received forms can call the helpline with details of their constituency, polling station and residential area. Party representatives will explain the procedure and connect them with local volunteers if required.

SIR helpline guides voters through verification process

The helpline also explains difficult sections in the enumeration form. It helps voters understand documentary requirements and avoid mistakes during verification.

The team also assists voters whose names fall under the anomaly category. It explains the reason, the removal process and the documents needed to establish identity or residence.

Voters can also seek guidance on correcting names, addresses, age, family details and other electoral information. However, election authorities will decide every inclusion, deletion or correction after verification.

Saifullah said the helpline complements the official SIR exercise by creating awareness. He said it does not replace the Election Commission, electoral registration authorities or Booth Level Officers.

The Congress has assigned 101 Hyderabad DCC office-bearers, 44 local unit presidents and nearly 1,200 Booth Level Agents to support voters across the city.

Trained representatives will first answer queries over the phone. If they cannot resolve an issue, the DCC will send a Booth Level Agent or local party representative to the voter’s home.

The party said this service will especially help senior citizens, persons with disabilities, women, economically weaker families and people unfamiliar with documentation procedures.

Saifullah urged voters to complete the SIR process without delay. He asked them to verify their electoral details and submit the required forms within the prescribed schedule.
