Hyderabad Police arrest key accused in advocate murder conspiracy case

Hyderabad: Hyderabad City Police arrested several accused in the advocate murder conspiracy behind the killing of advocate Khaja Moizuddin, who died after a Scorpio vehicle allegedly ran him over near his residence at Masab Tank on May 23.

Investigators said the case revealed a contract killing plot allegedly worth ₹15 lakh. Police linked the alleged conspiracy to a long-standing dispute over Waqf properties and management issues involving the victim and the family of prime accused Mujahid Alam Khan.

According to police, CCTV footage showed a green Mahindra Scorpio without number plates stationed near Moizuddin’s residence before the incident. Investigators alleged that the vehicle struck the advocate as he approached his car while leaving for a swimming session.

Moizuddin sustained serious injuries in the incident and later died while undergoing treatment at a hospital. Police launched a detailed investigation and formed special teams to identify those involved in the crime.

During the probe, investigators traced Kishan alias Pappu to Panipat in Haryana. Police said his questioning helped uncover details about the planning, reconnaissance and execution of the alleged murder plot.

The investigation also helped officers identify individuals who allegedly participated in surveillance activities and logistical arrangements before the attack.

Police uncover advocate murder conspiracy linked to property dispute

Based on evidence gathered during the investigation, police arrested prime accused Mujahid Alam Khan, his father Mahaboob Alam Khan and several associates on May 29. Investigators alleged that the accused coordinated the operation following disagreements related to Waqf property management.

Police identified Abhijeeth alias Nani as the alleged driver of the Scorpio used in the incident. Investigators said other accused played different roles, including monitoring the victim’s movements, arranging transport and facilitating the escape plan.

During searches conducted as part of the operation, officers seized the Scorpio vehicle allegedly used in the crime. Police also recovered ₹10.10 lakh in cash and several mobile phones believed to be connected to the investigation.

Meanwhile, teams continued efforts to locate and apprehend remaining absconding suspects. Investigators are also examining technical evidence, call records and other documentary material to strengthen the case.

Officials said the investigation remains active and additional arrests may follow based on evidence collected during the ongoing probe.

Assistant Commissioner of Police P. Praveen Kumar of Abids Division led the investigation. Inspector CH Saidulu, Sub-Inspector M.A. Adil Riyaz Khan and personnel from Nampally Police Station participated in the operation under the supervision of senior Hyderabad City Police officials.
