Urban Indiramma housing to feature future-ready designs, says Ponguleti

Hyderabad: Urban Indiramma housing projects will feature future-ready infrastructure, improved amenities and sustainable living spaces as the Telangana government prepares to launch its large-scale urban housing initiative for poor families.

Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy reviewed the project with senior officials on Friday after the State Cabinet approved construction of one lakh houses in the first phase across 24 constituencies under the CURE limits.

The minister said the government was designing the programme in line with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s vision of providing dignified housing without affecting the livelihoods of urban poor families.

He stated that the initiative would focus on long-term sustainability, convenience and improved living standards. The government aims to create housing communities that can meet the needs of future generations while ensuring access to essential civic facilities.

Ponguleti said the project would provide safe and secure homes for eligible beneficiaries. He added that the government wanted to develop modern residential communities instead of merely constructing housing blocks.

During the review meeting, officials presented multiple design models for consideration. The minister examined the proposals and suggested several modifications to improve functionality and future usability.

Urban Indiramma housing plans include modern amenities

Ponguleti directed officials to prepare designs that could meet urban requirements for the next 40 to 50 years. He asked planners to pay special attention to drainage networks, parking facilities, commercial spaces and changing lifestyle patterns.

The minister instructed authorities to explore the construction of buildings with up to 10 floors wherever local conditions permit. He said the layouts should accommodate population growth and future housing demands.

He also stressed the importance of incorporating Vaastu principles into the design of halls, bedrooms, kitchens and bathrooms. According to the minister, every housing unit should promote comfort, convenience and self-respect for residents.

In addition, Ponguleti directed officials to include parking zones and commercial shops within residential layouts. He said these facilities would support daily needs and create livelihood opportunities for families.

The minister further instructed authorities to treat each constituency as a separate unit while allocating houses. This approach would allow beneficiaries to remain close to workplaces, schools and existing social networks.

He asked officials to finalise the project designs after consultations with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and prepare a daily action plan for implementation.

Ponguleti said the government remained committed to providing housing security for every eligible urban poor family. He added that Telangana aims to create an Urban Indiramma housing model that could become a benchmark for other states.
