India Post and Flipkart sign pact for parcel delivery services

New Delhi: Department of Posts and Flipkart signed an agreement on Thursday to strengthen parcel delivery services and improve last mile logistics across India.

Officials signed the agreement in New Delhi in the presence of senior representatives from the Department of Posts and Flipkart India Private Limited.

Under the partnership, the Department of Posts will provide last mile parcel delivery services for Flipkart shipments across urban, semi-urban and rural regions.

Authorities said the agreement aimed to combine India Post’s nationwide delivery network with Flipkart’s growing e-commerce operations to improve logistics efficiency and customer experience.

The partnership will support delivery of prepaid and cash-on-delivery parcels. It will also provide OTP-based authentication and real-time shipment tracking facilities.

Officials stated that Flipkart would gain access to the Department of Posts’ network of more than 1.6 lakh post offices across the country.

Parcel delivery services to expand in rural regions

According to the Department of Posts, the agreement will improve parcel connectivity in remote and underserved areas where logistics access remains limited.

The collaboration also aims to speed up deliveries and strengthen operational coordination between both organisations.

Officials said the partnership would support the rapid growth of India’s e-commerce sector and increase the use of India Post’s logistics infrastructure.

The Department of Posts added that the initiative aligned with its broader plan to transform into a major logistics organisation serving the digital economy.
